About Me

I’m Goktug Bas, a student at Ridgewood High School with a strong passion for chess, coding, and making a positive impact on my community. As a chess instructor at the International Chess Academy and a multiple-time award winner in East Coast chess championships, I’ve honed my strategic thinking, which guides everything I do. I was also recently selected to the United States Chess Federation Top Player Lists for March 2025 in the Online-Blitz Under Age 18 category!

My journey has led me to create two nonprofit organizations: CodeKnights.org, dedicated to teaching chess and coding to underserved students, and BuddyWithMe.org, an AI-driven platform designed to support students with ADHD through personalized learning tools.

After completing Harvard’s AI Bootcamp, I’ve combined my skills in Python, AI, and machine learning with my passion for education. Whether I’m serving as a chess arbiter, optimizing databases, or mentoring young coders, my goal is to use technology and strategic thinking to drive meaningful change.

I truly believe in the transformative power of education, and I’m committed to making it accessible to all.
